THE HALL OF FAME GAME
We've been telling all you "Nut Players" about new changes in the game and then we got so busy doing other things we never got anything posted! Besides that, many of you have already gone way past the point where we were going to make the 1st "Hall of Fame". You guys are really moving this game!
In the past the game has never really had a stopping point and so those players who started 1st would always be way out in front of someone who just started the game and we felt it discouraged new players from wanting to join in, figuring they could never "catch" up. So that is why we've decided to turn this current game into the "Hall of Fame Game"
The plan now is to have each player enter the 1st level "Hall of Fame" at the 500 point mark! Once you enter the "Hall of Fame" your score will return to zero and you will then start your climb to the next level Each level will require another 500 points to gain entrance and will look something like this:
Hall of Fame level one = 500 (restarts at 0)
player scores another +500 = 1000 Total (enters 2nd level HOF) (restarts @ 0)
player scores another +500 = 1500 Total (enters 3rd level HOF) (restarts @ 0)
player scores another +500 = 2000 Total (enters the FINAL level)
At each level the player will have their picture and a current story about their latest "NUT" adventures added to their Hall of Fame page. There will be a symbol next to each player on the leader board that indicates how many levels they have completed and will be linked to their HOF page. Once you reach each level you will also receive a Magnet, Stamped Washer, or a Wooden Nickel to commerate your accomplishment! When players reach the FINAL level they will be crowned "Grandest Nut of All" and can request what kind of nut they would like and Craig will make it for them. Makes no difference if you reach it a month from now or a year from now, anyone & everyone who reaches the last level is crowned!! In other words play at your own pace.
Now then, when you enter each new level your score is returned to zero and you can only score nuts you haven't scored before. This makes it much harder to reach the next HOF level but of course not impossible. We are planning on adding new nuts on a regular basis. We've had a lot of new players make some GREAT new nuts to add to the game (THANK YOU!) and with the addition of new games like the "Just 4 Openers" and others that are in the planning stage there will always be ways to score points.
We also plan on throwing in a few new ideas like having a "Wild" nut, each month we will decide which nut to make "Wild" when you find this nut and log it one of 3 things could happen, it may (1) add some additional "Wild" points to your current score, or (2) deduct "Wild" points from your score or (3) you may be to require you to perform some task before you can score any "Wild" points. Now then, we will also change what the wild nut does every few days so you never know what it might do. Just because your buddy was rewarded 20 Wild points yesterday doesn't mean you'll get the same reward, we'll keep you guessing so be prepared! This idea is still in the programming stage so we're not quite sure when the "Wild Nut" will show up, just when you least expect it, there he'll be!
Next to discuss.........RULES!!
We've noticed in the forums some discussions going on and we agree that the following rules need to be followed in order for the game to remain fun and fair for everyone. It really is a matter of courtesy to LOG your movements!! We also feel like you need to mention the nut #'s as well.
When logging Nut pick-ups and/or placements:
3 log entries are required : (1) make a log entry in the cache log book (2) make a log entry @ geocaching site, even if you've logged it as a find before--just post a note that you've taken the nut(s) (3) log the pickup/placement on the cachunut page. Please remember to make these logs quickly. Nuts must be moved from one cache to another to score points, and must remain in Utah!
When you pick up a nut please check to see that the person who had the nut before you has had a chance to log their nut placement. If you log a nut pickup before they have logged their nut placement then they will not be able to log their nut placement and they will not get their points unless they email us to straighten things out.
As far as swapping nuts around, it seems that most players don't see a problem with that just as long as the nut swapping is done at a cache so that all involved can make the appropriate 3 log entries. If you normally play as a team but are signed up seperately and log seperately, you may want to re-sign up as a team. This may make it less complicated for logging.......just a thought! As far as awards go...each team member would receive a token of achievment. If you decide to re-sign up as a team, we will use the player with the highest score among those who are to become a team and that will be your new combined team score, that player's # will also be assigned to the team so that any previous nuts that player has already scored for you cannot score again. All other players #'s will be removed from the data base and the team can only log pickups/placements under the "New Team" #......make sense??
Any rules in this game are hard to enforce, however we feel like the players sometimes (not always) know who are not playing fairly. We don't like seeing players pointing fingers in the forums and making insinuations about other players so if you're having a problem or think someone's not playing fairly then please contact us, tell us what you think is going on, we'll contact the player(s) and see if we can resolve the problem. As far as players not properly logging the 3 required log entries, that should be easy enough to check out, we'll give that player a "nice warning email" if they continue to not log correctly then maybe a deduction in their score would be appropiate.
Again, as we've said before our main goal here is for players to have FUN, the games are meant to enhance your geocaching expierence, not stress you out! If you feel like we need to add any additional rules or if you have any suggestions for new twists to add to the current game or ideas for a "New" game please contact us by email or post something in the forums, we're flexible and can make changes at any time the players feel we need to!
Now get out there and find some NUTS!
Please report any problems or suggestions to
cghendricks@comcast.net
If you try repeatedly to log a nut and it says the code word is incorrect that means the nut has not been gathered up for the new round. Please email us so we can pick up the nut to change the code word.
